Course Overview
The Intermediate Quran Studies course is designed for students who have completed beginner-level Quranic education and can read the Quran with basic fluency. This course focuses on improving Quranic recitation (Tajweed), understanding meanings and themes of selected Surahs, and deepening knowledge of Islamic teachings and values.
Course Objectives
- Enhance Quranic recitation skills with advanced Tajweed rules.
- Memorize additional Surahs from the Quran.
- Understand the meanings and themes of key Quranic passages.
- Learn practical Islamic teachings derived from the Quran.
- Develop a stronger connection to the Quran and its guidance.
Weekly Breakdown
Week 1: Course Introduction and Recitation Assessment
- Reviewing foundational Tajweed rules.
- Assessment of recitation skills to identify focus areas.
- Setting learning goals for the course.
Week 2: Advanced Tajweed Rules
- Emphasis on Ikhfa, Idgham, and Qalqala rules.
- Practicing elongation (Madd) and stopping signs (Waqf).
- Group recitation exercises.
Week 3: Memorization of Key Surahs
- Starting memorization of Surah Al-Mulk.
- Techniques for effective memorization.
- Understanding the significance of the Surah.
Week 4: Understanding Quranic Themes
- Exploring themes of Tawheed (monotheism) and gratitude.
- Tafsir (exegesis) of selected Ayahs.
- Group discussions on lessons from the Quran.
Week 5: Practical Applications of Quranic Teachings
- Quranic guidance on daily life (e.g., honesty, kindness).

- Comprehensive review of memorized Surahs.
- Reinforcement of Tajweed rules through practice.

Week 11: Spiritual Reflection and Duas
- Learning and memorizing Quranic Duas.
